Quite simply put, Reverse Osmosis Water Filters are the most efficient way to remove the largest number of contaminants commonly found in water. It is the single, most effective way, to take out most impurities from drinking water. And it works even better in combination with other methods. Most filtration systems, both residential and municipal, combine RO Filtration with a pre-filtering method to remove large particles suspended in the water that would gum up the filter and reduce its effectiveness. Dissolved particles are then removed by the RO membrane – which effectively can remove most minerals (including salts), metals and many organic impurities from drinking water. Finally, filtered water will be forced through a ‘polishing filter’, often activated carbon, which will polish off the remaining contaminants, and most objectionable odors and tastes from the water.
Disadvantages of Reverse Osmosis Water Systems are a few, but it is something to consider when selecting a home water filtration system. First, it is a slow process, commonly used in under-sink or point-of-use systems. Second, it produces water that is fairly acidic and aggressive, with lower pH, and close to distilled (i.e. a flat taste) - that is because RO membrane removes dissolved solids that contribute to taste along with contaminants.
We carry a full range of Crystal Quest Reverse Osmosis Water Filters from basic model all the way to 17 stage RO and Whole House / Commercial Reverse Osmosis Systems, starting from 200 GPD Light Commercial RO. If you buy one of our systems below, we highly recommend an optional remineralizing and pH balancing cartridge to restore pH and minerals. We will install it on your new RO system or bottleless water cooler free of charge.

How It Works
Osmosis - is the place where most people start getting confused. Water flows through a membrane that would split the flow into two sources, one with pure water , and the other with contaminated water. Salts and contaminants will be discharged , typically into a drain, while pure water will flow through. Most systems require at least a carbon pre-filter to remove chlorine because membranes are damaged by it, and at least one polishing filter. This technology is slow , so a water storage tank is also added for your convenience. More details on how it all works together can be found here on the page describing Reverse Osmosis Process.
