According to many diet and weight loss experts, drinking adequate water is a vital part of a healthy diet and will help the body burn fat faster.

How often you drink water can be as important as how much water you drink. Chugging down a gallon of water at a sitting won’t do much to improve the hydration of your body – when you give your body more water than it needs, it simply passes it right on through. Instead, experts recommend drinking water throughout the day to maintain an adequate supply of water to your body for all its needs. Their suggestions include:

  • Drink whenever you feel thirsty.
  • Drink a cup of water with every meal.
  • Drink at least one cup of water between meals.
  • Drink 1-2 cups of water half an hour before exercising to prevent dehydration.
  • Drink an additional cup of water per hour if you are engaging in physical activity.
