Photometers and Electronic Meters for drinking water testing produce more detailed, repeatable results compared to simple test strips. They are producing quantitative (show exact quantities of each contaminant) vs. qualitative (a range) that are produced with regular test strips. Another advantage is that you don't have to color match each strip that can produce false positives and under- / over exposure. Photometers use digital displays to show exact results. More advanced photometers such as iDip can also communicate to an outside device (a smartphone) and store information on that device, which is extremely convenient for tracking and reporting results.
