Crystal Quest Fluoride Filter Cartridge
is a standard 10"x2.5" replacement cartridge that is not only designed to reduce fluoride but it also reduces Arsenic and Lead made possible by the fine-mesh pre-resin media: CQ-900. Crystal Quest CQ-900 is a high capacity synthetic absorbent media(synthetic aluminum oxide, also called Activated Alumina), that is highly selective for Fluoride, Arsenic and Lead. It removes metals through a combination of adsorption and chemical reaction with the media, thus the removal is not dependent on ion exchange.Fluoride
is the name given to a group of compounds that are composed of the naturally occurring element - fluorine and one or more other elements like minerals in soil or rocks. Fluorides are present naturally in water and soil at varying levels. It is primarily known to prevent tooth decay and at some point, has been added to our drinking water for that purpose. Drinking fluoridated water keeps the teeth strong and reduced tooth decay by approximately 25% in children and adults. For 70 years, people in the United States have benefited from drinking water with fluoride, leading to better dental health. Over the past several decades, technology has offered several resources to bring fluorides into our homes and many children now exceed recommended daily fluoride intake from toothpaste alone.
EPA regulates fluoride in drinking water at 4.0 mg/L or 4.0 ppm to protect public health. Fluoride may cause health problems if present in public or private water supplies in amounts greater than the drinking water standard set by EPA. According to the EPA, exposure to excessive consumption of fluoride over a lifetime may lead to increased likelihood of bone fractures in adults, and may result in effects on bone - leading to pain and tenderness. Children aged 8 years and younger exposed to excessive amounts of fluoride have an increased chance of developing pits in the tooth enamel, along with a range of cosmetic effects to teeth.

- AAL Fluoride reduction cartridge.
- For best results, do not exceed recommended flow rates and pH conditions:
.. Influent streams above 100 ppm of hardness, reduce cartridge Fluoride removal capacity by 50%;
.. Above 200 ppm, reduce capacity by 75%.
- Cartridge is capable of water flow rate up to 2.5 gallons per minute, but optimum performance is achieved at 0.5 GPM (gallon per minute). Be aware, that the higher the flow rate, the less fluoride will be removed from water.
- Also replaces Mercola FR-1 and Pure & Clean Water Filters.
Filter media manufactured by a U.S. company and is certified to NSF standard 61.
